Questions & Answers about در را باز میکنم.
Why is there no word for "I" in this sentence?
In Farsi, you do not always need to use subject pronouns like man (I) because the verb ending already tells you who is doing the action. The -am ending on میکنم means "I do", so adding man at the beginning is optional and usually left out in everyday speech.
What is the purpose of the word را here?
The word را is a special marker in Farsi that points out a specific direct object. Because you are opening "the door" (a specific door) rather than just "a door in general", را is placed right after در (door) to show exactly what is receiving the action.
How does the verb باز میکنم work? Isn't میکنم the verb "to do"?
Yes! Farsi relies heavily on compound verbs. Instead of having a single unique word for "open", it combines the word باز (open) with the helper verb میکنم (I do). So literally, you are saying "open I do" or "open I make".
Why is the verb at the very end of the sentence?
Unlike English, which usually follows a Subject-Verb-Object order (I open the door), Farsi generally puts the verb at the very end of the sentence. Here, the structure is the object (در را) followed by the action (باز میکنم).
