او می‌خواهد فیلم جدید را ببیند.

Questions & Answers about او می‌خواهد فیلم جدید را ببیند.

Why is the verb "to see" written as ببیند instead of the usual می‌بیند?
Because it follows the verb می‌خواهد (she wants). In Farsi, when you combine verbs to say you "want to do" something, the second verb must be in the subjunctive form. To do this, we drop the usual می prefix and use بـ (be-) instead.
How exactly is the subjunctive form ببیند built in this sentence?
We take the subjunctive prefix بـ (be-) and add it to the present stem of the verb, which is بین (bin). Then we add the third-person singular ending ـد (-ad) because the subject is او (she). This gives us ببیند (be-bin-ad).
The infinitive for "to see" is دیدن (didan). Where does the بین (bin) part come from?
The verb دیدن is irregular! While its past stem is simply دید (did), its present stem is completely different: بین (bin). You have to memorize this present stem, as you will use it for all present tense forms, including the subjunctive.
Why do we need the word را right after فیلم جدید?
The word را (rā) marks a specific, definite object in a sentence. Since she wants to see the new film (a specific thing, not just any film), we place را immediately after the entire noun phrase فیلم جدید (new film) to show it is the target of the verb.
When spoken, there is an "e" sound connecting فیلم (film) and جدید (jadid). Why isn't it written?
In Farsi, adjectives follow nouns and are linked by an "e" sound called the ezafe (pronounced "film-e jadid"). However, this short vowel is almost never written in the Persian alphabet. You just place the adjective directly after the noun and remember to pronounce the connecting sound yourself!
