How do we connect the word for "behind" to "house" in this sentence?
We use the Ezafe! The word for behind is posht. Like the other location words in this lesson, it needs an "e" sound to link it to the next noun. When spoken, it becomes posht-e khâneh. Because the Ezafe is a short vowel, it isn't written out in the Farsi alphabet, so you just see پشت right next to خانه.
