Questions & Answers about صورتت تمیز است.
How do we get 'your face' from صورتت?
The word for face is صورت. Instead of using a separate word for 'your', Farsi often attaches a short ending directly to the noun. Here, we add the 'your' ending ـَت to get صورتت.
Why are there two ت letters next to each other in صورتت?
The first ت is simply the last letter of the word صورت (face). The second ت is the attached ending meaning 'your'. You pronounce them with a short 'a' vowel sound in between: surat-at.
Can I say صورت تو instead of using the attached ending?
Yes! صورت تو uses the separate word for 'you' (تو). Both mean exactly the same thing, but using attached endings like ـَت is extremely common and natural in Farsi.
Why does است come at the very end of the sentence?
In Farsi, verbs almost always go at the very end of the sentence. So instead of saying 'your face is clean' like in English, the sentence order is literally 'your face clean is' (صورتت تمیز است).
