The third conditional (agar...)

The Third Conditional

The third conditional expresses unreal or hypothetical situations in the past—events that did not actually happen.

Start the condition clause with اگر (if) and a verb in the Past Perfect. The result clause typically uses the Past Perfect as well.

Using the Past Continuous

If the hypothetical result describes an ongoing action or repeated habit, use the Past Continuous in the result clause. The condition clause remains in the Past Perfect.

Negative Forms

To make either the condition or the result negative, just add the prefix نـ to the verb.
