Superlative partitives

"One of the..."

To express that a monument or sculpture is "one of the most" exceptional of its kind, use the phrase یکی از (one of) followed by a superlative adjective (which always ends in ترین) and a plural noun.

Partitive Superlatives with Pronouns

Often, you may want to compare an object to a group without explicitly repeating the noun. To say "the largest of all" or "the most beautiful of them," you simply link the superlative directly to a pronoun like همه (all) or آنها (them) using the Ezafe vowel.

Because superlative adjectives end in the consonant ن, the Ezafe is not written in the script, but you will hear it linking the two words together in speech.

Partitive Superlatives with Nouns

You can use this exact same Ezafe structure with a plural noun to mean "the most [adjective] of [nouns]."

For example, linking شگفت‌انگیزترین (the most amazing) to چیزها (things) forms the phrase "the most amazing of things."

Whether you are using یکی از or an Ezafe connection, these superlative constructions allow you to describe world-class artistry and antiquity (قدمت):
