When discussing problems, solutions, or workplace situations, you often need to connect a cause to its logical effect. In Farsi, you can express "so" and "therefore" using پس and بنابراین.
Using پس (So)
پس is the most common word for "so" or "then". It easily links two statements, introducing the direct result of the first clause.
| I had an interview yesterday, so I was stressed. |
| The result was good, so the manager approved the report. |
Using بنابراین (Therefore)
When you want to sound slightly more formal or emphasize a definitive, logical conclusion, use بنابراین (therefore). It is heavily used in written Farsi and professional settings.
| He had the skills, therefore the company hired him. |
| This is a definitive solution, therefore we accept it. | این یک راهحل قطعی است، بنابراین ما آن را میپذیریم.in yek râh-hal qat'i ast, banâbarin mâ ân râ mipazirim. |
Sentence Structure
Both پس and بنابراین behave exactly like their English equivalents. You simply state the cause, add a comma, and start the second clause with your resultative conjunction:
| The company's conditions were bad, therefore they did not hire anyone. |
| The news was not definitive, therefore the manager did not approve it. | خبر قطعی نبود، بنابراین مدیر آن را تایید نکرد.khabar qat'i nabud, banâbarin modir ân râ ta'yid nakard. |
