Giving Reasons with چون
To explain why an action happened or a choice was made, use the subordinating conjunction چون (because). It links a main clause to the reason behind it, working exactly like "because" in English.

| We left the cinema because the movie was boring. |
| My car is in the repair shop because I had an accident yesterday. |
Answering "Why?"
When someone asks a question using چرا (why), introduce your answer with چون.
| Why did you come late? Because the traffic was heavy. |
| I arrived late because I overslept and there was traffic. | من دیر رسیدم چون خواب ماندم و ترافیک بود.man dir residam chon khâb mândam va terâfik bud. |
Asking Questions with چون
You can also use چون inside a yes/no question to ask if a specific reason is the cause of a situation.
| Are you sad because your friend left? âyâ chon doostat raft ghamgin hasti? |
| Are they happy because they won the match? âyâ chon dar mosâbeghe pirooz shodand khoshhâl hastand? |
