First conditional (agar)

When discussing likely future situations—like shipping rules or missed deliveries—we use first conditional sentences. In Farsi, these start with اگر (if).

The "If" Clause (Condition)

Because the condition hasn't happened yet, the verb following اگر takes the present subjunctive.

To state a negative condition, use the negative subjunctive, replacing the بـ prefix with نـ.

The Result Clause (Outcome)

The result clause describes what will happen if the condition is met. It uses standard indicative tenses, typically the present indicative or the explicit future tense.

You can also use modal verbs like باید (must) for the outcome. Notice how the verb "to be" changes to its subjunctive form (باشد) in the following "if" clause:
