Counting by Tens
Counting by tens is essential for handling prices, ages, and larger quantities.
| thirty | سیsi |
| one hundred | صدsad |
As with smaller numbers, the noun following a number is always singular.
| We are forty students here. |
| One hundred apples are on the table. |
Combining Tens and Units
To form compound numbers like 35, 52, or 93, join the tens and units with و (and).
| This book is thirty-five tomans. | این کتاب سی و پنج تومان است.in ketâb si o panj tumân ast. |
| My father is fifty-two years old. | پدر من پنجاه و دو ساله است.pedar-e man panjâh o do sâle ast. |
| Ninety-three new cars are in the street. |
Putting It All Together
Notice how everything combines predictably: the number comes first, followed by the singular noun, and then any adjectives.
| This black coat is sixty-four tomans. | این کت سیاه شصت و چهار تومان است.in kot siyâh shast o chahâr tumân ast. |
| Are there seventy-one chairs in the restaurant? âyâ haftâd o yek sandali dar resturân ast? |
| Thirty men and forty women are in the park.
