Connectors of consequence (banâbar-in, dar natije)

Expressing Consequence

When explaining a delicate, step-by-step process like artisan cheese making, you often need to describe how one action leads to another. To link a cause to its effect, Farsi uses discourse connectors of consequence.

Therefore: بنابراین

To say "therefore", use بنابراین. This connector sits at the beginning of the second clause to introduce the logical consequence of the first clause.

As a result: در نتیجه

To say "as a result", use در نتیجه. It functions exactly the same way as بنابراین, linking a prior situation or action to its direct outcome.

Cause and Effect in Action

Both بنابراین and در نتیجه are coordinating conjunctions. In writing, they usually follow a comma and are highly interchangeable. You can use either one to naturally narrate the successes—and failures—of your artisan projects!
