Adverbs of Frequency
To talk about how often you do things, use adverbs of frequency like همیشه (always), معمولاً (usually), and اغلب (often). In Farsi, these adverbs usually go near the beginning of the sentence, right after the subject.
| She always checks the emails at night. | او همیشه شب ایمیلها را چک میکند.u hamishe shab imeil-hâ râ chek mikonad. |
| I usually turn off the laptop at night. | من معمولاً شب لپتاپ را خاموش میکنم.man ma'mulan shab laptop râ khâmush mikonam. |
| They often download big files. | آنها اغلب فایلهای بزرگ را دانلود میکنند.ânhâ aghlab fâylhâ-ye bozorg râ dânlod mikonand. |
Saying "Never" with هرگز
To say that you never do something, use هرگز. Unlike English, هرگز must always be paired with a negative verb.
| He never watches videos on this website. | او هرگز در این سایت ویدیو تماشا نمیکند.u hargez dar in sâyt vidiyo tamâšâ nemikonad. |
| I never turn off the computer because the file is open. | من هرگز کامپیوتر را خاموش نمیکنم چون فایل باز است.man hargez kâmpyuter râ khâmush nemikonam chon fâyl bâz ast. |
Adverbs of Degree
To express to what extent you do something, use adverbs of degree like خیلی (very / a lot) and کم (little).
These are often combined to say خیلی کم (very little). Adverbs of degree generally sit right before the adjective or verb they modify.
| We are online very little because we do not have internet. | ما خیلی کم آنلاین هستیم چون اینترنت نداریم.mâ kheyli kam ânlâyn hastim chon internet nadârim. |
| I check the emails very little because I am busy. | من ایمیلها را خیلی کم چک میکنم چون مشغول هستم.man imeil-hâ râ kheyli kam chek mikonam chon mashghul hastam. |
