In English we say "put on your seatbelt". Why does this sentence just use "de" instead of "jouw"?

This is a common alternative to possessive pronouns in these contexts.
Why is "om" placed after "de gordel" here?
This is from the separable verb omdoen (to put on). In this imperative (command) sentence, the conjugated part of the verb (doe) comes first, and the separable prefix (om) gets pushed to the end of the phrase.
Why use "omdoen" instead of "aandoen" or "aantrekken" to mean "put on"?
