Why is it duurder and not just duurer?
The base word for expensive is duur. When a Dutch adjective ends in -r, you add -der instead of just -er to make it comparative (meaning more). Saying duurer is awkward to pronounce, so the d acts as a bridge to make it sound smoother.
Why doesn't the word order change after maar?
The word maar (but) is a coordinating conjunction. That means it simply connects two independent sentences without messing up their word order. The second part stays as a normal Subject-Verb sentence: de aanbieding (subject) is (verb) goed.
What exactly does aanbieding mean here?
Aanbieding translates to offer, but it almost always refers to a special offer, discount, or sale in a store. If something is in de aanbieding, it means it is currently on sale.
