Questions & Answers about Nee, bedankt.
Why use bedankt here instead of dank je or dank u?
While dank je (informal) and dank u (formal) are also perfectly fine, bedankt is a universal way to say thanks. It doesn't change based on who you are talking to, which makes it very safe and easy to use in any situation!
What kind of word is bedankt?
It translates to thanks, but it actually comes from the verb bedanken (to thank). You are essentially saying thanked, but nowadays it is just used as a standard, standalone polite word.
Why does nee have two E's?
Dutch uses double vowels to show that a sound is long. The double E in nee makes a long vowel sound, similar to the English A in the word name.
