Describing Manner with zoals

To describe how an action is performed by comparing it to another, use the conjunction zoals ("as", "like", or "the way that").

Because zoals is a subordinating conjunction, it pushes the conjugated verb to the end of its clause.

You must shape the clay as the potter does it.
Make the clay supple as I am doing now.
Shape the clay as I explain it.
Vorm de klei zoals ik het uitleg.
I knead the clay firmly, as the potter explains.
