Questions & Answers about Naš skijaški klub nudi besplatan najam.
Why does the sentence use besplatan instead of besplatnog for the accusative case?
The word najam is a masculine inanimate noun, so its accusative form is identical to its nominative form. Therefore, the adjective takes the inanimate accusative form. It uses the indefinite besplatan rather than the definite besplatni because it refers to "free rental" in general, not a specific known instance of it.
How is the adjective skijaški formed from the base word for ski?
The base noun skija (ski) first becomes skijaš (skier). Adding the suffix -ški turns this noun into the adjective skijaški, which describes things related to skiing or skiers.
Could I use the word iznajmljivanje instead of najam in this context?
Yes, but there is a slight difference in nuance. Iznajmljivanje emphasizes the ongoing action or process of renting something out, whereas najam focuses on the service or the arrangement itself. For an official service offered by a club, najam is very natural and professional.
Why is the imperfective verb nudi used here instead of its perfective form?
The ski club offers this service as a permanent, ongoing feature. The imperfective verb nuditi expresses this continuous state, whereas the perfective ponuditi would mean making a single, specific offer at one specific moment.
