Learn Croatian: Volimo igrati društvene igre. - We like to play board games.

In Croatian, board games are called društvene igre, which literally translates to "social games". The adjective društven comes from the noun društvo, meaning "company" or "society". This term broadly covers board games, card games, and party games that you play with a group.

What case is društvene igre in this sentence?

It is in the accusative case because it is the direct object of the verb igrati (to play). Because igra is a feminine noun, its accusative plural ends in -e, and the adjective društvene matches it. It can be tricky to spot because for feminine nouns, the nominative plural and accusative plural are identical.

Could I use the verb svirati here instead of igrati since they both mean "to play"?

No, you must use igrati. In Croatian, igrati is used for playing games, sports, or dancing. The verb svirati is strictly reserved for playing musical instruments, such as svirati klavir (to play the piano).

Do I need to include the pronoun mi (we) before volimo?
