Questions & Answers about Čim potvrdite uplatu, sustav će obraditi zahtjev.
Why is potvrdite in the present tense if the system's action happens in the future?
After čim (as soon as), Croatian usually uses the present tense of perfective verbs to set up a future event. Even though it refers to a future action, you use the present form. This actually matches English, where we also say 'as soon as you confirm' instead of 'will confirm'.
How do we know potvrdite is a perfective verb here?
The prefix po- often indicates a perfective (completed) action. Its imperfective pair is potvrđivati. We use the perfective aspect here because the confirmation is a single, finished action that triggers the system's response.
Both uplatu and zahtjev are direct objects. Why does one change its ending while the other doesn't?
They are both in the accusative case, but they belong to different grammatical groups. Uplata (payment) is a feminine noun, so its ending changes to -u. Zahtjev (request) is a masculine inanimate noun (not a living being). In the accusative case, masculine inanimate nouns look exactly the same as their dictionary form.
Why does će come directly after sustav?
The word će is an enclitic, which means it strictly belongs in the second position of its clause. The comma resets the word order for the main clause. Sustav takes the first position, so će drops right into the second spot behind it.
