Plural Masculine Nouns
In Croatian, regular masculine nouns usually end in a consonant. To make them plural, simply add -i.
For example, student becomes studenti (students), and prijatelj becomes prijatelji (friends).
| Where are the students? | Gdje su studenti? |
| They are friends. | Oni su prijatelji. |
| The neighbors are at home. | Susjedi su doma. |
Everyday Objects
The same rule applies to masculine nouns for objects and places, like restoran (restaurant) or problem (problem).
| Where are the restaurants? | Gdje su restorani? |
| Those are problems. | To su problemi. |
| The televisions are here. | Televizori su ovdje. |
Matching Adjectives
Adjectives and pointing words must match the nouns they describe. For masculine plurals, they typically take an -i ending as well.
Notice how words like novi (new), veliki (big), and ovi (these) end in -i.
| The new restaurants are beautiful. | Novi restorani su lijepi. |
| These hotels are big. | Ovi hoteli su veliki. |
| The big airplanes are there. | Veliki avioni su tamo. |
