When making plans with friends or family, you often want to be flexible and leave the choices up to them. In Croatian, you can express open possibilities—like "whoever," "whatever," or "wherever"—by simply adding the particle god to question words.
To say "whoever" or "whatever," take the interrogative pronouns tko (who) or što (what) and follow them with god.
Note that god is always written as a completely separate word.
If you want to tell someone they can choose freely, što god is the perfect phrase to use.
This exact same pattern applies to question adverbs. By adding god, you transform questions about time, place, and manner into open statements:
- gdje (where) + god = gdje god (wherever - static location)
- kamo (where to) + god = kamo god (wherever - moving to a destination)
- kad (when) + god = kad god (whenever)
- kako (how) + god = kako god (however)
Let's see how to offer a choice of location:
Remember to use kamo god instead of gdje god when there is motion toward a destination involved:
You can use the time and manner adverbs to show you are open to any schedule or method:

For example, if you are planning a trip to a cottage (vikendica), these phrases make scheduling easy:
