Planning a Big Event

Preparations and Ceremonies

Organizing a major celebration begins with careful preparations (تحضير) for the ceremony (حفل). Remember that plural non-human nouns like تحضيرات are grammatically treated as feminine singular for most grammatical agreements, though they take regular plural suffixes.

Catering and Logistics

For food and beverages, you will often need to hire a professional caterer (متعهد). Large events also involve complex logistical (لوجستي) planning. Like all adjectives, "nisba" adjectives (ending in ي or ية) such as لوجستي must match the gender of the noun they modify.

On-Site Supervision

To keep things running smoothly, someone must supervise the operations. The verb "to supervise" (أشرف) is always followed by the preposition على. You will also need an on-site (ميداني) team to handle any unexpected issues during the event itself.

Segments and the Master of Ceremonies

An event is usually divided into different segments or parts (فقرة). To guide the guests through these segments, a master of ceremonies or host (عريف) is essential. Like many nouns representing professions or roles, it can easily be made feminine (عريفة) to refer to a female host.

Joyous Festivities and Food

A successful celebration provides excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere. You will often see the word مأكولات (foods/foodstuffs) paired with مشروبات (beverages). When the event goes well and the guests are happy, it becomes a truly joyous (بهيج) occasion.
