Találkozik means “meet” or “encounter.” The other participant is not a direct object but an instrumental companion: találkozik valakivel, “meets with somebody.” This reciprocal framing contrasts sharply with English meet somebody and explains why találkozik has no definite conjugation.
The verb is an -ik verb with present first-person találkozom in traditional neutral standard usage; találkozok is widespread (informal). Its z assimilates to imperative j, producing találkozz. Prefix össze- can add an accidental or converging perspective. The partner marking belongs to the wider instrumental-comitative case.

The instrumental ending assimilates to the final consonant of a name or noun: Péterrel, Annával, a vezetővel. Pronouns use velem, veled, vele, velünk, veletek, velük.

There is no definite series such as találkozom őt or találkozom a főnököt. The form találkozom is the traditional -ik first-person indefinite, not a definite form.

The inclusive first-person találkozzunk is a natural proposal. Long találkozzál is (informal) and often more insistent. Subordinate clauses use the same imperative–subjunctive forms.

The infinitive is találkozni; personal forms are találkoznom, találkoznod, találkoznia, találkoznunk, találkoznotok, találkozniuk.

Találkozó is fully lexicalized as the noun “meeting”: megbeszélést tart and találkozót tart/szervez refer to organized events. As a participle it can still mean “meeting/converging,” as in találkozó utak.
A hétfői találkozót az utolsó pillanatban áttették csütörtökre.
Monday's meeting was moved to Thursday at the last minute.
Rare találkozandó is not useful for ordinary production. Use a felek, akik találkozni fognak rather than a compressed participle.
Partner, place, and time
The partner takes -val/-vel. The meeting place takes its ordinary location case or postposition: az irodában, a hídnál, az épület előtt. Time is expressed independently: hatkor, kedden, ebéd után.

Focus can place the instrumental partner immediately before the verb. Since there is no verbal prefix in bare találkozik, this reordering marks contrast without any prefix movement.
Reciprocal meaning
A singular subject plus an instrumental partner profiles one participant: Anna találkozik Bélával. A coordinated or plural subject can express the reciprocal event without egymással: Anna és Béla találkoznak. Add egymással to make the mutual relation explicit or contrast it with separate meetings.
A két igazgató először tárgyalt külön, majd este egymással is találkoztak.
The two directors first held separate talks, then also met each other in the evening.
The instrumental partner cannot normally be promoted to an accusative object. Hungarian does have transitive talál valakit/valamit “find,” but that is a different verb: Megtaláltam Évát means “I found Éva,” not “I met Éva.”
Összetalálkozik and abstract encounters
Összetalálkozik valakivel presents the participants as unexpectedly crossing paths. It is less neutral than plain találkozik and often co-occurs with véletlenül. Colloquial összefut valakivel is an everyday synonym (informal).
Tegnap véletlenül összetalálkoztam egy régi osztálytársammal a piacon.
Yesterday I unexpectedly ran into an old classmate at the market.
Nem találkoztunk össze senkivel az elhagyott turistaúton.

Negation and focused kivel separate össze from the finite verb. The instrumental frame remains unchanged after separation.
With an inanimate or abstract instrumental complement, találkozik valamivel means “encounter, come up against,” common in professional and academic prose (formal/academic). The subject may still be a person or group.
A vizsgálat során a kutatók több váratlan mérési hibával találkoztak.
During the investigation, the researchers encountered several unexpected measurement errors. (academic)
English meet a deadline/requirement does not use találkozik. Hungarian says betartja a határidőt “keeps the deadline” and megfelel a követelménynek “meets the requirement.”
