नहाना is the ordinary neutral intransitive verb for bathing, showering, or taking a bath. The bather is its subject; water or cleansing substance takes से, and the bathing location takes an appropriate locative phrase. It contrasts with transitive धोना, which selects the specific thing or body part washed.

The verb does not require an object meaning “oneself.” Hindi packages whole-body bathing as an intransitive activity.
Water, substance, and place
Water or another bathing medium takes से: ठंडे पानी से नहाना. A river, pool, or bathroom takes में when construed as the place one bathes.

English “take a shower” can be translated simply by नहाना when the exact bathing method is irrelevant. शॉवर लेना is also common in urban Hinglish (informal), but it is not required for ordinary showering.
Perfective agreement and no ने
The unmarked bather controls agreement. Perfective नहाना takes no ने.
