Note
utinWestern Armenian does not really have a locative case. So some ancient locative forms are frozen into adverbs.
Number of cases:
Eastern Armenian has an extra, distinct locative case with a specific ending, typically -ում (-um).
In Western Armenian, the function of the locative case is usually fulfilled by postpositions or other case forms
Case Syncretism (Merged Forms): While both dialects technically have the cases listed above, many of the forms for nouns are identical in both languages:
Nominative/Accusative: These two cases share the same form in both Eastern and Western Armenian (except for personal pronouns and specific instances in Eastern Armenian).
Genitive/Dative: These two cases also share the same form in both dialects.
So as a conclusion Western Armenian comes down to four case forms:
1. Nom /Acc
2. Gen / Dat
3. Instrumental
4. Ablative
