Questions & Answers about Hedefimiz yüz müşteri.
How does the possessive suffix work in hedefimiz?
The word for "goal" or "target" is hedef. To say "our", we add the suffix -(I)mIz. Because hedef ends in a consonant, we keep the vowel at the start of the suffix. Following the rules of 4-way vowel harmony, the 'e' in hedef means the suffix uses an 'i', giving us hedefimiz (our goal).
If there are a hundred of them, why isn't it plural (müşteriler)?
In Turkish, nouns always remain in their singular form when they come directly after a number. Since we already specified the quantity with yüz (one hundred), adding the plural suffix to make it yüz müşteriler would be grammatically incorrect. It must simply be yüz müşteri.
Where is the word for "is" in this sentence?
Turkish does not have a direct translation for the verb "to be" (is/am/are) as a standalone word. In simple "A is B" statements like this, you just put the subject (hedefimiz) and what it equals (yüz müşteri) right next to each other. The "is" is naturally implied!
