### Setting the Scene: "Suppose that"

To propose a hypothetical scenario, start your sentence with **tut ki** (suppose that) or **diyelim ki** (let's say that). 

To set up the imaginary event, the verb in the hypothetical clause usually takes the simple past tense, just like in English (e.g., "Suppose you *won*"). The consequence clause describing what you *would* do takes the aorist past tense (**-ırdı / -erdi**).
