### Current Necessity: -mAk durumunda

To describe an ongoing or current necessity, combine the full infinitive of the action (**-mAk**) with **durumunda** (in the position/situation of). Finally, attach a personal suffix (the copula) to match the subject.

Because *durumunda* ends in a vowel, remember to use the buffer letter **-y-** before suffixes that start with a vowel (like **-yız** for "we").

### Being Forced: durumunda kalmak

To emphasize the feeling of being backed into a corner, or to describe an event where your hand was suddenly forced, use the auxiliary verb **kalmak** (to remain / to be left) instead of a simple personal suffix.

The structure **-mAk durumunda kalmak** (to be left in the position of having to) is highly common in the past tense to explain tough, unavoidable choices.
