Present assumptions (-acak)

Present Assumptions with "olacak"

In Turkish, you can use the future tense suffix -(y)acak / -(y)ecek to make logical deductions about the present, like guessing a package's current status ("It must be at the warehouse by now").

By using olacak (the future tense of olmak, to be), you state that based on the evidence, a current state "must be" true right now.

The cargo must be at the warehouse right now; the estimated arrival time didn't change.
Kargo şu an depoda olacak, tahmini varış saati değişmedi.
According to the current map, the driver must be in our neighborhood.
Güncel haritaya göre sürücü bizim mahallede olacak.
The barcode wasn't entered into the system; the package must still be at the warehouse.
Barkod sisteme girilmedi, paket hâlâ depoda olacak.

Assuming an Action is Ongoing

To deduce that an action "must be happening" right at this moment, use the present continuous suffix (-ıyor / -iyor / -uyor / -üyor) on your main verb, followed by olacak.

The courier has been on the way for two hours; he must be delivering the package now.
Kurye iki saattir yolda, paketi şimdi teslim ediyor olacak.
The estimated time decreased; the vehicle must be passing through our street right now.
Tahmini süre azaldı, araç şu an sokağımızdan geçiyor olacak.
The address couldn't be written; the courier must be calling the center.
Adres yazılamadı, kurye merkezi arıyor olacak.

Deductions with the Direct Future Tense

You can also attach the future tense suffix directly to a main verb to express a strong assumption about a present or immediate action.

The courier must be delivering the current delivery with a delay right now.
Şu an kurye güncel teslimatı gecikmeli ulaştıracak.
