### Negative Future Tense (-mayacak / -meyecek)

To talk about habits we want to break or things that will not happen, we use the negative future tense.

Attach the negative suffix (**-ma** or **-me**) to the verb stem. Because the future tense suffix (**-acak** or **-ecek**) starts with a vowel, always insert the buffer letter **y** between them.

- **al-** (to buy/take) + **ma** + **y** + **acak** → **almayacak** (will not buy)
- **ye-** (to eat) + **me** + **y** + **ecek** → **yemeyecek** (will not eat)

### First-Person Resolutions ("I" and "We")

When the personal suffixes for "I" (**-ım** / **-im**) or "we" (**-ız** / **-iz**) are added, the **k** in the future suffix softens to a **ğ** (yumuşak g), just as it does in positive statements:

- **-mayacak** + **-ım** → **-mayacağım** (I will not)
- **-meyecek** + **-im** → **-meyeceğim** (I will not)
- **-mayacak** + **-ız** → **-mayacağız** (We will not)
- **-meyecek** + **-iz** → **-meyeceğiz** (We will not)

These forms are often paired with words like *asla* (never), *kararlı* (determined), and *söz vermek* (to promise):
