Questions & Answers about ใคร สอน ภาษา อังกฤษ ครับ
Why is ใคร at the beginning of this sentence if Thai question words usually go at the end?
Thai question words don't automatically go at the end; they replace the exact spot of the information you are asking for. Because we are asking about the subject (the person doing the teaching), ใคร takes the subject's position at the very beginning of the sentence. If you were asking 'Who do you teach?', ใคร would move to the end as the object.
Why do we say ภาษา อังกฤษ instead of just อังกฤษ?
อังกฤษ on its own usually refers to the country of England or British things in general. To specifically talk about the English language, you need to put the word ภาษา (language) in front of it.
In English we say 'English language', so why is the word order ภาษา อังกฤษ (language English) here?
In Thai, describing words always come after the noun they are describing. Since ภาษา (language) is the core noun, อังกฤษ (English) must follow it to specify exactly which language is being taught.
Does the verb สอน change its spelling depending on if one person or multiple people are teaching?
No, Thai verbs never change their form to match the subject. The word สอน stays exactly the same whether you mean 'teach', 'teaches', 'am teaching', or 'taught'.
