I usually use ถ้า for 'if'. What is the difference between ถ้า and หาก here?
หาก means the exact same thing as ถ้า (if), but it sounds slightly more formal or written. You will often hear it in advice, announcements, or general statements like this sentence. In casual, everyday spoken Thai, ถ้า is still much more common.
Does ไม่สบาย literally mean 'not comfortable'?
Yes, literally it means 'not comfortable' since ไม่ means 'not' and สบาย means 'comfortable' or 'relaxed'. However, when talking about your physical state, this is the standard and most common way to say you are sick or unwell.
Why do we use หา (to look for) instead of a word like ดู (to see) when seeing a doctor?
In English you 'see' a doctor, but in Thai you cannot use ดู (to look at with your eyes) or เห็น (to visually perceive) for visiting people. When you go to visit, meet, or consult with a person, you use หา. Therefore, ไปหา means 'go to visit' or 'go to consult'.
Why isn't there a subject in the second part of the sentence before ควร?
In Thai, if the subject is already obvious from the context, it is naturally dropped. Since the first half establishes that 'you' (คุณ) are the one who is unwell, there is no need to repeat the word 'you' before ควร (should) in the second half.
