Starting an Action
When you want to express that an activity is beginning—like launching a business or kicking off a new project—Thai uses the auxiliary verb เริ่ม (to start/begin).
To construct the phrase, simply place เริ่ม directly before the action verb.
| They are starting to build a startup. | พวก เขา เริ่ม สร้าง สตาร์ทอัป |
You will notice that the startup and tech world in Thai relies heavily on English loanwords, which are written and pronounced using Thai phonetics.

Future Plans and Completed Starts
You can easily combine เริ่ม with other time and aspect markers to clarify exactly when the action kicks off.
To say you will start doing something, place the future marker จะ right before เริ่ม.
| I will start testing the new project tomorrow. | ผม จะ เริ่ม ทดสอบ โปรเจกต์ ใหม่ พรุ่งนี้ ครับ |
Similarly, to express that someone might start an action, use the possibility marker อาจจะ before เริ่ม.
| We might start selling this product next month. | พวก เรา อาจจะ เริ่ม ขาย ผลิตภัณฑ์ นี้ เดือน หน้า |
If the action has already started, keep เริ่ม before the main verb and add the completed marker แล้ว at the end of the statement.
| The programmer has already started to present the idea. | โปรแกรมเมอร์ เริ่ม นำเสนอ ไอเดีย แล้ว |
Asking if an Action Has Begun
To ask if an activity has started yet, use the standard เริ่ม structure and place the question phrase หรือยัง (or not yet) at the very end of the sentence.
| Have we started raising funds for the startup yet? | พวก เรา เริ่ม ระดมทุน เพื่อ สตาร์ทอัป หรือยัง |
