Polite requests (ขอ)

Making Polite Requests

To make polite requests for items, place ขอ (may I have) before the noun. Add a polite particle (ครับ for male speakers, ค่ะ for female speakers) at the end.

ขอ + Noun + (Polite Particle)

May I have the menu, please?
ขอ เมนู ครับ
May I have some tissues, please?
ขอ ทิชชู่ ค่ะ

Asking for More

To ask for an extra portion, place เพิ่ม (more) after the noun.

ขอ + Noun + เพิ่ม + (Polite Particle)

Specifying Details

Quantities, adjectives, and descriptive phrases come after the noun you are requesting.

May I have two bottles of sauce, please?
ขอ ซอส สอง ขวด ครับ
May I have the wifi password, please?
ขอ รหัส ไวไฟ ค่ะ

Expressing a Desire to Ask

To state that you or someone else wants to ask for something, place อยาก (want) before ขอ.
