Penetration verbs (ทะลุ)

The Resultative Verb ทะลุ

To describe an action that goes straight through a barrier, use the resultative serial verb ทะลุ (clear through / through and through). Place it directly after a physical action verb, a perception verb, or the object of the action, followed by the barrier being penetrated.

Piercing and Penetrating

When describing sharp (แหลม) objects, use verbs like แทง (to stab / to pierce) combined with ทะลุ to show the object going completely through a surface.

You will frequently see this structure applied to projectiles like a bullet (กระสุน) or an arrow (ลูกศร) piercing through defensive layers such as armor (เกราะ).

Throwing Objects

To indicate throwing an object at a target, use the verb ปา. When the thrown object breaks entirely through a barrier, ทะลุ immediately follows the thrown object (or its modifiers) and precedes the barrier it went through.
