Questions & Answers about Inte ens astronomen känner till meteoritens omloppsbana.
Why doesn't inte ens trigger the V2 inversion rule here, like other restrictive adverbs in this lesson?
In this sentence, inte ens (not even) isn't acting as a standalone fronted adverbial. Instead, it directly modifies the noun, making the entire phrase inte ens astronomen the subject. Because that whole phrase sits in the first position, the verb känner correctly takes the second position without needing subject-verb inversion.
Could I use vet instead of känner till here?
Not naturally. Vet is generally used for knowing specific facts or information, usually followed by a clause (like knowing that the orbit is wide). Känner till means to be familiar with or aware of a noun (a person, place, or thing). Since the subject simply lacks familiarity with a specific thing (the orbit), känner till is the correct choice.
Why is it meteoritens rather than just meteorits?
In Swedish, when expressing possession for a specific, definite noun, the possessive -s is added directly to the definite form. You take meteorit (meteorite), add the definite suffix en (the), and finally attach the possessive s to get meteoritens (the meteorite's).
