Breakdown of Konceptet tilltalar inte alls målgruppen.

Questions & Answers about Konceptet tilltalar inte alls målgruppen.

Why does "inte alls" come right after the verb instead of at the end of the sentence like in English?

In English, "not at all" usually goes at the end of the sentence. In a Swedish main clause, inte alls behaves as a single sentence adverbial. Following the V2 rule, it comes directly after the finite verb tilltalar.

Why is there no preposition after tilltalar to translate the "to" in "appeals to"?

The verb tilltalar is transitive, meaning it takes a direct object without needing a preposition. The "to" concept is already built into the verb itself, which literally translates as "speaks to" (till + talar).

Could we use another emphatic negation from this lesson like ingenting alls here?

No, because ingenting alls means "nothing at all" and functions as a noun or pronoun. Here, we are negating the action of the verb itself (the concept does not appeal), so we must use the adverbial phrase inte alls.

How does the word målgruppen break down?

It is a compound of mål (goal or target) and gruppen (the group). Swedish uses this straightforward compound for terms like "target audience" or "target demographic".
