Questions & Answers about Vad som helst krispigt fungerar till festen.
Why does the adjective krispigt end in -t here?
The phrase vad som helst (anything) is treated as a grammatically neuter concept. Because of this, any adjective describing it must take the neuter -t ending, exactly as it would if it were describing an ett word.
Does the adjective always come after vad som helst?
Yes. Just like in English where we say 'anything crispy' (not 'crispy anything'), the Swedish adjective directly follows the pronoun phrase: vad som helst krispigt.
Could I use this exact same structure to say 'anyone funny'?
You would use vem som helst for 'anyone', but the adjective ending changes! Because 'anyone' refers to a person, it acts like an en word (common gender). So you would say vem som helst rolig without the -t at the end.
Why does the sentence use till instead of för to mean 'for the party'?
When talking about something being an addition to, or intended for a specific event, meal, or occasion, Swedish prefers the preposition till. You will often see till paired with verbs like fungerar (works) or passar (fits) in this way.
