Questions & Answers about Du behöver inte oroa dig.
Why is dig at the end of the sentence when English just says "worry"?
In Swedish, to express worrying about something, you often use the reflexive verb oroa sig. This means you must include a pronoun that reflects back to the subject. Literally, you are saying "You do not need to worry yourself."
I usually see sig with reflexive verbs. Why is it dig here?
The reflexive pronoun has to match the subject of the sentence. You only use sig for third-person subjects like han (he), hon (she), or de (they). Since the subject here is du (you), the matching pronoun is dig.
Why is there no att (to) before the infinitive verb oroa?
The verb behöver (need) is usually followed directly by another verb in its infinitive form, without using att. It acts like a helper verb, similar to how kan (can) or vill (want) work in Swedish.
Why does inte come after the verb behöver instead of before it?
