The translation says "is singing", but there is no word for "is" in the Swedish sentence. Why?
Swedish doesn't have a continuous tense like English (where you use "is" plus an "-ing" verb). Instead, the simple present tense sjunger covers both "sings" and "is singing". You should never try to say är sjunger!
Why is the command "Listen!" translated as Lyssna? Isn't that just the base form (to listen)?
For Group 1 verbs in Swedish (which all end in -a), the command form (imperative) is exactly the same as the infinitive form. So, lyssna acts as both "to listen" and the command "Listen!".
Why do we use någon here instead of något?
Någon is used when referring to a person (someone/anyone), because people are grammatically en words. If you were talking about an unspecified thing instead of a person, you would use the ett form något, which translates to "something".
