The emphatic word for "oneself" has to agree with the subject it refers to. Here, it refers to du (you, singular). If the sentence was about plural "you" (ni) or "we" (vi), you would use the plural form själva. For example, "You guys don't have to use the hammer yourselves" would be Ni slipper använda hammaren själva.

Why does the sentence use slipper to mean "do not have to"? Could I just say måste inte?

Att slippa is a very common, uniquely Swedish verb that means "to avoid doing something" or "to be spared from doing something". While you could technically say Du måste inte använda..., using slipper is much more natural when you are getting out of a chore or an obligation you'd rather not do.

Why is there no att (to) before använda?
