Questions & Answers about Vilken kandidat har både erfarenheten och utbildningen?
How do you use både ... och in this sentence?
It works exactly like "both ... and" in English. You place både before the first item (erfarenheten) and och before the second item (utbildningen) to link them together.
Why does the sentence start with vilken instead of vilket?
The word for "which" has to match the gender of the noun it describes. Because kandidat is an en-word (en kandidat), you must use vilken. If it were an ett-word, you would use vilket, and if it were plural, you would use vilka.
I noticed both erfarenheten and utbildningen get the -en ending. Is there a pattern here?
Yes! Nouns that end in -het (like erfarenhet) and -ing (like utbildning) are almost always en-words. To make them definite ("the experience", "the education"), you simply add -en to the end.
Could I just say både erfarenhet och utbildning without the definite endings?
