The Kanske Exception (V3 Word Order)
You are already familiar with the Swedish Verb-Second (V2) rule: normally, if you start a main clause with an adverb, the verb must come next, swapping places with the subject.
However, the sentence adverb kanske (maybe) is a notable exception. When you place kanske at the very beginning of a main clause, it does not trigger the V2 rule. Instead, the subject stays in the second position, pushing the verb to the third position (V3 word order).
