Future time expressions (om)

Expressing "In" a Certain Amount of Time

To say an event will happen in a certain amount of time, use the preposition om before the time period.

We will launch the app in a month.
Vi ska lansera appen om en månad.
They will test the code in a week.
De ska testa koden om en vecka.

Future Plans: Ska vs. Present Tense

You can express future plans using ska (will) followed by an infinitive verb, such as ska släppa (will release).

We will release the new update in two days.
Vi ska släppa den nya uppdateringen om två dagar.

Alternatively, you can use the present tense for scheduled events. A time phrase like om en timme (in an hour) makes the future context perfectly clear. You will often see this when describing tech products or software as klar (ready).

The new product will be ready in a year.
Den nya produkten är klar om ett år.
That system will be ready in an hour.
Det där systemet är klart om en timme.
We are testing the update in a week.
Vi testar uppdateringen om en vecka.
