Expressing "In" a Certain Amount of Time
To say an event will happen in a certain amount of time, use the preposition om before the time period.
| We will launch the app in a month. | Vi ska lansera appen om en månad. |
| They will test the code in a week. | De ska testa koden om en vecka. |
Future Plans: Ska vs. Present Tense
You can express future plans using ska (will) followed by an infinitive verb, such as ska släppa (will release).
| We will release the new update in two days. | Vi ska släppa den nya uppdateringen om två dagar. |
Alternatively, you can use the present tense for scheduled events. A time phrase like om en timme (in an hour) makes the future context perfectly clear. You will often see this when describing tech products or software as klar (ready).
| The new product will be ready in a year. | Den nya produkten är klar om ett år. |
| That system will be ready in an hour. | Det där systemet är klart om en timme. |
| We are testing the update in a week. | Vi testar uppdateringen om en vecka. |
