Expressing Consequences with därför
To say "therefore" or "that is why" in Swedish, use the connector därför. It links a cause to its consequence.

The V2 Word Order Rule
When därför starts a sentence or a new clause, it triggers Swedish's strict Verb-Second (V2) rule. Because därför occupies the first position, the finite verb must be the very next word, followed immediately by the subject.
därför + verb + subject
| The storm is coming. Therefore we are dropping the anchor now. | Stormen kommer. Därför kastar vi ankaret nu. |
Notice the word order: it is Därför kan vi... and Därför kastar vi..., never Därför vi kan....
