Time clauses (antes de que / después de que)

Scheduling with "Antes de que" and "Después de que"

To talk about the sequence of events, use the phrases antes de que (before) and después de que (after).

When these phrases introduce an action that hasn't happened yet—a pending future event—the verb that follows them must be in the present subjunctive.

We want to coordinate the logistics before the committee arrives.
Queremos coordinar la logística antes de que el comité llegue.
We can assign the task before the supplier begins the work.
Podemos asignar la tarea antes de que el proveedor empiece el trabajo.

Notice the pattern: the first part of the sentence (the plan or need) uses the normal indicative mood, while the anticipated event uses the subjunctive.

I need to book the hotel after we finish this stage.
Necesito reservar el hotel después de que terminemos esta etapa.
We can distribute the money after you assign the budget for the stage.
Podemos repartir el dinero después de que asignes el presupuesto para la etapa.
The supplier wants to see the agenda before we sign the contract.
El proveedor quiere ver la agenda antes de que firmemos el contrato.
