Polite Requests with "Me gustaría"
When you want to ask for something politely—like booking an appointment at the hair salon—use me gustaría ("I would like").
This is the conditional form of the verb gustar. While me gusta means "I like," me gustaría means "I would like."
To say what you would like to do, simply follow me gustaría with an infinitive verb:
| I would like to schedule an appointment for Monday. |
| I would like to schedule an appointment with the blond stylist. |
You can use this exact same structure to explain to the stylist how you want your hair or nails done:
| I would like to dye my hair brown. | Me gustaría teñirme el pelo de castaño. |
| I would like to have straight hair for the party. |
| I would like to paint my nails red today. |
| I would like to schedule another appointment to cut my curly hair. |
