Plural articles (los, las, unos, unas)

The plural of "the": los and las

Just like nouns, articles change to match gender and number. The singular definite articles el and la ("the") become los and las.

  • el changes to los
  • la changes to las
The birds eat bread.
Los pájaros comen pan.
You look at the flowers and the trees.
Ustedes miran las flores y los árboles.

The plural of "a" and "an": unos and unas

Similarly, the indefinite articles un and una ("a" or "an") become unos and unas. These usually translate to "some".

  • un changes to unos
  • una changes to unas
The lady buys some chairs.
La señora compra unas sillas.
Some girls read the letters.
Unas niñas leen las cartas.
