The Spanish numbers from 0 to 15 have unique, single-word names.
Numbers 0 to 10
| Number | Spanish | Number | Spanish |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | cero | 6 | seis |
| 1 | uno | 7 | siete |
| 2 | dos | 8 | ocho |
| 3 | tres | 9 | nueve |
| 4 | cuatro | 10 | diez |
| 5 | cinco |
Numbers are placed immediately before the noun they count. They do not change to match the noun's gender, with one exception: uno becomes un before a masculine noun and una before a feminine noun. It remains uno when counting out loud or replacing a noun entirely.
