Intensifying prefixes (re-, super-, hiper-)

Dodging Ambushes

Two essential verbs for surviving virtual battles are esquivar (to dodge) and teletransportarse (to teleport). You might use these to escape una emboscada (an ambush).

They just teleported to dodge the ambush.
Acaban de teletransportarse para esquivar la emboscada.

Powering Up with super-

To emphasize that a characteristic is extreme, attach an intensifying prefix directly to the front of an adjective as a single word, with no hyphen or space.

You have to dodge that projectile, it's super-lethal!
¡Tienes que esquivar ese proyectil, es superletal!

Going Faster with hiper-

For things beyond "super," use hiper- (hyper-). Notice that joining hiper- with rápida brings two "r"s together to form hiperrápida.

This relentless horde is hyper-fast.
Esta horda implacable es hiperrápida.

Extremely Difficult: re- and requete-

In Latin America, the prefixes re- and requete- are frequently used in casual speech to mean "very" or "extremely."

Dodging his devastating attack is extremely difficult.
Esquivar su ataque devastador es redifícil.

When a prefix ending in a vowel joins a word starting with "r," the "r" doubles to keep its strong trilled sound. For example, requete- plus rápido becomes requeterápido.

The projectile is lethal and extremely fast.
El proyectil es letal y requeterápido.

Portals, Armor, and Immunity

Level up your gaming vocabulary with words like el blindaje (armor) and el portal (portal). Stack these terms with intensifying prefixes to describe your ultimate gear and toughest battles.

Use the portal in case the monster regenerates and becomes immune.
Usen el portal por si el monstruo se regenera y se vuelve inmune.
It is hyper-difficult to dodge the enemy with this super-heavy armor.
Es hiperdifícil esquivar al enemigo con este blindaje superpesado.
